Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a full-time phlebotomist float to cover multiple client sites in Wheaton and Chicago, with a standard 40-hour week and 8:00am-5:30pm schedule, rotating weekends. The role requires phlebotomy certification and ability to drive to various client sites in the Chicago area.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy certification through a nationally recognized organization or equivalent training.
• Experience with phlebotomy in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Familiarity with medical EMR systems preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections per age related standards.
• Provides appropriate post-phlebotomy patient care.
• Identifies need for patient medical assistance and calls code as appropriate.
• Reviews refrigerator temperatures and QC/QA records; reports concerns.
• Label and process specimens according to protocols.
• Procure blood specimens from infant to geriatric patients.
