Description

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Drive a personal vehicle to client facilities, typically nursing homes, as directed by the dispatcher.
2. Unload the phlebotomy tray and take it to the patient's bedside to collect samples ordered by a physician.
3. Accurately identify patients before collecting specimens.
4. Collect, label, process, and deliver specimens obtained from patients.
5. Reload equipment and specimens into the vehicle for prompt delivery.
6. Regularly communicate with the dispatcher to report status and location.
7. Strictly adhere to Universal Precautions to control blood-borne pathogens and infectious disease exposures.

Requirements:

• Maintain required certifications, health requirements, and operational standards.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Excellent communication and interaction skills, especially with pediatric and geriatric populations.
• Treat customers and patients with respect, dignity, and discretion, acknowledging their rights.
• Current, valid State phlebotomy license.
• Valid State Driver's license, car insurance, good driving record, and a vehicle in good condition.
• Proficient in venipuncture and skin puncture techniques using vacutainer and syringe methods.
• Knowledge of laboratory operations.
• Maintain sterile, sanitary conditions to prevent contamination.
