Job summary

Vision To Learn operates mobile eye clinics in Maryland, providing school-based vision screenings and glasses at no cost to students. The role focuses on fitting frames, conducting screenings, and delivering eyewear while upholding safety and clinic standards.

The Optician will work full-time on site with school-hour schedules, 2–3 Saturdays per year, and contribute to a mission-driven team improving learning outcomes for children.

Qualifications

• Optician diploma and basic certification preferred but not required.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Experience working with children and diverse groups.
• Able to pass background checks and drug test.
• Spanish skills a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee mobile eye clinic operation and scheduling.
• Take measurements and fit frames per prescriptions.
• Assist with frame selections for proper fit and satisfaction.
• Prepare daily reports and meet deadlines.
• Conduct vision screenings using Welch Allyn equipment.
• Dispense glasses to student patients and follow safety protocols.
• Maintain clinic setup and drive vehicle safely.
