Job summary

Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO seeks a Laboratory/Building Management Support technician to assist with lab operations, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance. You will supervise students on fabrication projects, coordinate repairs, and support facility upgrades.

This role requires at least a high school diploma and ability to lift 50 lbs; experience in lab, machine shop, or facilities maintenance, plus safety knowledge.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 1 year of experience in lab, machine shop, fabrication, facilities maintenance or related environments.
• Must be able to obtain respirator training and pass a fit test.
• Ability to read and follow technical manuals, procedures and safety docs.
• Ability to supervise and instruct students in safe operation of tools and equipment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic work order systems.

Responsibilities

• Support general laboratory improvements with faculty and lab managers.
• Provide supervision, oversight and instruction of students performing fabrication projects.
• Ensure equipment, materials and supplies for general labs are available for use by students and faculty.
• Enforce all safety rules and environmental regulations.
• Purchase and, when necessary, fabricate equipment and supplies for general/shared labs.
• Ensure lab equipment is running efficiently; repair coordination as needed.
• Provide technical support in design, fabrication and use of lab equipment and tools.
• Coordinate facility modifications and repairs with plant facilities and other departments.
• Assist with physical cylinder management within Hill Hall.
• Assist with other duties as assigned by Lab Coordinator III.
