Job summary

Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO seeks a Lab Coordinator Assistant to support the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. You will help with building operations, equipment installation and maintenance, and safety/compliance across multiple labs.

The role involves supervising students, coordinating with faculty and lab managers, and assisting with procurement and repairs to ensure labs run safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 1 year of related experience.
• Able to obtain respirator training and pass fit test.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Experience supporting labs, fabrication, facilities maintenance, or engineering support environments.
• Willingness to coordinate with faculty and lab managers.

Responsibilities

• Support general lab improvements and fabrication tasks.
• Supervise students performing projects and ensure equipment readiness.
• Coordinate facility modifications and repairs with plant facilities and other departments.
• Troubleshoot and repair shop and laboratory equipment as needed.
• Assist with safety plans and ensure compliance with Fire Safety regulations.
• Assist with Lab Coordinator III tasks and department operations.
