Job summary

Johnson Controls Inc. is seeking HVAC mechanics to support light-to-heavy commercial HVACR service in North America. You will work with commercial equipment, perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services, and participate in training programs.

The role emphasizes safety, problem-solving, and customer communication. We provide tools, uniforms, and a company vehicle. Travel up to 20% may be required to support branch customers, with a pay range aligned to union rate sheets.

Qualifications

• Membership in the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing & Pipe Fitting Industry is required or can be joined.
• Be a dedicated North America Branch team member capable of system troubleshooting and aftermarket services.
• Minimum of 3 years commercial/industrial HVAC troubleshooting experience (rooftop units, pumps, boilers, chillers, etc.).
• Mechanical shaft alignment and vibration testing skills may be required.
• Travel up to 10–20% to support branch activities and field service.
• Must pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.

• Ability to work with other local mechanics, servicemen, and apprentices.
• Strong written and interpersonal communication to document problems, causes, and corrective actions.
• Ability to provide customer quotes and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
• Self-starter with safety as a priority and a valid driver’s license; EPA refrigerants license and state/local licensing where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide highest level of service to solve facility inefficiencies during commissioning and after sales.
• Offer recommendations and solutions to keep facilities running efficiently and identify upsell opportunities.
• Prepare quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
