Job summary

Vermeer Southeast is seeking a field service technician in Birmingham, AL to perform maintenance and repair of heavy equipment including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems. The role involves traveling to customer sites, diagnosing issues, and documenting work with required safety protocols.

The ideal candidate has 2 years of technical training or equivalent experience, a valid CDL, and the ability to read schematics. Practical welding skills and tool readiness are a plus.

Qualifications

• 2 years technical training/certification or equivalent heavy equipment industry experience.
• Must have a valid Driver's License: CDL.
• Ability to read schematics and repair mechanical, hydro-static, hydraulic, electrical, and CAN/BUS systems.
• Must maintain a proper minimum set of tools to diagnose, disassemble, and reassemble components for most equipment repairs (specialty tools are provided).
• Basic oxy/acetylene cutting and welding skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service in dealership through accurate inspections for defects and equipment diagnoses.
• Perform maintenance and repair of mechanical, hydro-static, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems.
• Maintain service trucks and travel to customer sites.
• Diagnose equipment failures and perform repairs using appropriate diagnostic tools.
• Record and document diagnoses and procedures, order parts, and estimate repair time.
• Attend and complete required technician training classes.
• Follow safety precautions and understand hazards related to equipment.
