Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced diesel truck and trailer technician in Auburn, AL to diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial tractors and trailers. You will handle mobile road calls and yard work, write detailed work orders, and ensure DOT compliance.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of verified repair experience, own tools, and the ability to lift 100+ pounds. Welding certification is a plus and HS diploma or technical training is preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair customers’ commercial tractors and trailers.
  • Write detailed work orders for mobile road calls and in-yard work.
  • Provide quality customer service.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair semi-truck and trailer bodies, systems, and components.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on fleet semi-trucks and trailers.
  • Maintain hubs and axles and adjust or replace them when required.
  • Inspect, service, and replace tractor and trailer parts, including tires.
  • Check and repair brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Test systems and equipment for performance issues.
  • Ensure trailers meet U.S. Department of Transportation road safety requirements.
  • Compile inspection reports, document repairs, and report findings to management.
  • Respond to client queries as soon as possible.

Job description

Requirements
  • 5+ years of verified commercial tractor and trailer repair experience
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to lift 100+ pounds
  • Basic computer skills to submit repairs for billing
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions to complete daily tasks
  • Basic reading and writing skills to complete customer repair orders
  • Experience with welding is helpful; certification is a plus
  • High school diploma or equivalent is a plus
  • Technical school degree is a plus
  • Own tools
