Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a skilled truck and trailer technician in the United States. The role focuses on diagnosing and repairing commercial tractors and trailers, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring DOT safety compliance.

You will generate detailed work orders, provide top‑notch customer service, and document all repairs and inspections. Ideal candidates have 5+ years of repair experience, a valid license, and own tools.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of verified commercial tractor and trailer repair experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to lift 100+ pounds.
  • Basic computer skills to submit repairs for billing.
  • Follow oral and written instructions to complete daily tasks.
  • Basic reading and writing skills to complete customer repair orders.
  • Welding experience would help; certification is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is a plus.
  • Technical school degree is a plus.
  • Own tools

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial tractors and trailers.
  • Write detailed work orders for mobile road calls and/or in-yard work.
  • Provide quality customer service.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair semi-truck and trailer bodies, systems, and components.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on fleet semi-trucks and trailers.
  • Maintain hubs and axles and adjust or replace them when required.
  • Inspect, service, and replace tractor and trailer parts, including tires.
  • Check and repair brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Test all systems and equipment for performance issues.
  • Ensure trailers meet U.S. Department of Transportation road safety requirements.
  • Compile inspection reports, document repairs, and report findings to management.
  • Respond to client queries as soon as possible

Job description
