Job summary

Peckham Industries, Inc. in Westfield, MA is seeking a Mobile Repair Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on construction, paving, and support equipment at plants, job sites, and other locations.

The role requires travel as needed to keep equipment operating safely and with minimal downtime. You will diagnose diesel engines and related systems, document repairs, and work with operators, supervisors, shop staff, and vendors to prioritize fixes.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in the service repair industry (Auto/Heavy Truck and Equipment).
• Must have valid driver’s license, CDL preferred.
• Knowledge of gas and diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Flexibility to meet the company’s needs.
• Highschool diploma or GED preferred.
• Legal right to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Protect family and friends by adhering to safety policies and OSHA requirements.
• Reduce unplanned downtime by diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and diesel-engine issues.
• Support safe field operations by responding to equipment breakdowns and prioritizing repairs.
• Maintain complete maintenance records by documenting inspections, repairs, labor, parts usage, and equipment conditions.
• Ensure field-service readiness by keeping the mobile service vehicle stocked, organized, safe, and equipped to complete common repairs.
• Identify recurring failures and recommend corrective maintenance or replacement actions.
