Job summary

Interstate Power Systems is hiring Field Power Generation Technicians/Mechanics to support multiple locations across Nebraska and Iowa. The role focuses on diesel-driven generators, with maintenance, repair, and diagnostics performed in the field to ensure reliable operation.

You will diagnose and fix power generation systems, execute preventative maintenance, and address complex mechanical and electrical issues while maintaining safety standards in diverse field conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience with industrial power generation sets.
• Experience with diesel and natural gas engines, electrical switchgear, and automatic transfer switches.
• Must have your own set of general tools.
• Ability to use diagnostic computers and repair-order systems.
• Physically able to lift and work with no restrictions.
• Clean driving record and ability to pass a D.O.T. Physical.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair all makers of generators.
• Demonstrate basic-level knowledge of and/or experience with power generation products.
• Complete preventative maintenance and repairs on generators or components at customer sites with minimal supervision.
• Diagnose, repair, adjust, and modify components of the generator, engine, and switchgear.
• Maintain positive interactions with service writers, foremen, parts department, and customers.
• Keep paperwork updated and submit upon completion.
• Meet certification requirements.
• Perform administrative duties related to the role.
