Job summary

Responsibilities

• Inspect workplace daily and report hazards promptly.

• Perform repairs using hand tools, welding, cutting torch, lifts and hoists per safety standards.
• Conduct pre-trip safety inspections of mobile equipment and document concerns.
• Operate mobile equipment to diagnose and transport units as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsible for mechanical repairs and maintenance on a variety of heavy-duty mobile equipment. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability and safety of our fleet, including loaders, dozers, haul trucks, water trucks, pickups, and other support vehicles.

JOB DUTIES

• Performs daily workplace inspections and promptly reports any hazards and issues.
• Diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs and preventive maintenance on diesel and gasoline mobile equipment, including but not limited to loaders, dozers, haul trucks, water trucks, pickup trucks, and small support equipment.
• Performs repairs using hand and pneumatic tools, welding and cutting torch equipment, and lifts and hoists, in accordance with MSHA and AWS safety and performance standards. Safely uses hand tools, hoists, jacks, and pneumatic tools.
• Performs pre-trip safety inspections of mobile equipment, including service trucks, and documents any concerns.
• Operates mobile equipment (to diagnose and transport).
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma, trade school or general education degree (GED); and 6-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong knowledge and ability to diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engine systems.
• Computer Diagnostics experience: 3-6 years of (Cat ET) and/or John Deere (Service Advisor /EDL) or similar systems like Jaltest OHW.
• Basic computer skills for maintenance tracking and reporting.

WORK DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENT

• Must be physically capable of accessing all mobile equipment located at the plant l which could include heights, confined spaces, elevated platforms, climbing ladders or stairs.
• Personal protective equipment is required regularly, as needed, including a hard hat, hearing protection, eye protection, hard-toed safety shoes or boots, (dust mask respirator) when required, protective clothing, gloves, and other personal protective equipment.
• The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme heat and cold, noise, vibration, oils, and atmospheric conditions such as dust, fumes, and mineral particles.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, balance, stoop, kneel, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb ladders and stairs, shovel material and work on elevated platforms.
