Job summary

West Fraser in North Carolina is seeking a skilled mechanic to maintain rolling stock and heavy mobile equipment at our Armour Lumber Mill. You will diagnose, repair, and prevent downtime to keep operations safe and productive.

The role requires 3+ years in industrial mechanical work, proficiency in diesel, hydraulics, and electrical systems, and the ability to read schematics. Welding is a plus; overtime and weekend shifts are common to support 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 3+ years of industrial or heavy equipment mechanical experience.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read schematics and technical manuals.
• Welding and fabrication experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on rolling stock and mobile equipment (forklifts, loaders, skid steers, utility vehicles, yard equipment).
• Diagnose hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and diesel engine systems.
• Conduct inspections to ensure safety standards compliance.
• Troubleshoot breakdowns and minimize downtime.
• Complete work orders accurately and promptly.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance to prioritize repairs.
