Job summary

Iowa Army National Guard in Middletown, IA seeks a SURFACE MAINTENANCE REPAIRER, WG-5801-8, to perform limited diagnosis and routine repairs on heavy-duty equipment and vehicles. Work includes preventive maintenance, using standard parts and tools, and field maintenance at unit locations as part of a contact team.

Candidates will follow technical manuals and PMCS procedures, assist higher graded mechanics, and may be assigned to inspect, repair, and overhaul engine, transmission, hydraulic, and

Qualifications

• Experience or training using common hand and power tools and test/measurement devices.
• Experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning and installing parts and accessories.
• Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic theory for vehicles.
• Ability to read parts lists, repair manuals, diagrams and electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform limited diagnosis and routine repairs on heavy-duty equipment and vehicles.
• Assist higher graded mechanics with repairs and overhauls of major systems.
• Carry out PMCS and ensure proper servicing of vehicles and equipment.
• Provide field maintenance at unit locations as needed and recover inoperable vehicles.
