Job summary

Slaymaker Rentals in Washington state is seeking a Mobile Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair aerial and dirt equipment, both in our shop and at customer job sites.

You will diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, mentor junior technicians, manage parts and work orders, and uphold safety standards to deliver dependable service. This is a full-time role with a Monday–Friday schedule and occasional overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Proven experience as a mechanic (heavy equipment/diesel preferred).
• Strong knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, diesel, and mechanical systems.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Medical Card Required.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
• Experience in shop and field environments.
• Preferred: vocational/technical certification, welding experience, or HVAC knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced repairs and maintenance on aerial and dirt equipment with minimal supervision.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools.
• Provide field service support, including customer jobsite repairs and occasional equipment retrieval.
• Mentor and assist in training junior technicians.
• Order parts, manage work orders, and track repair progress.
• Communicate with Service Manager and customers regarding repairs and timelines.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Support overall service operations and perform additional duties as assigned.

About the Role

The Mobile Equipment Mechanic plays a critical role in maintaining and repairing equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation for both customers and internal use. This position performs advanced diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance in both shop and field environments.

In addition, this role serves as a technical leader by mentoring and supporting junior technicians while contributing to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

What You'll Do

• Perform advanced repairs and maintenance on aerial and dirt equipment with minimal supervision
• Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools (multimeters, code scanners, etc.)
• Provide field service support, including customer jobsite repairs and occasional equipment retrieval
• Mentor and assist in training junior technicians to support team development
• Order parts, manage work orders, and track repair progress accurately
• Communicate effectively with the Service Manager and customers regarding repairs and timelines
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards and company procedures
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Support overall service operations and perform additional duties as assigned
