Job summary

Commercial Metals Company is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician to support operations across our facilities. You will service and repair mobile equipment, cranes, engines and hydraulic systems, perform preventative maintenance, and maintain detailed records of repairs and parts usage.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years in heavy equipment maintenance, basic electrical and hydraulic knowledge, and the ability to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of heavy equipment maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, engines, and mobile equipment.
• Experience with a wide variety of mechanical tools.
• Ability to read and understand technical documents, diagrams, and service manuals.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied weather conditions.
• Fundamental knowledge of bearings, power transmission, electrical, hydraulics/pneumatics, lubrication, and heat transfer.
• Stand for long periods in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain mobile equipment, cranes, bearings, power transmission, hydraulics/pneumatics, fluid pumping systems and welding principles/rigging.
• Perform daily preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including fueling, cleaning, and fluid checks.
• Service machinery by repairing engines, hydraulic systems, and other equipment.
• Repair engine failures and mechanical/electrical malfunctions, replace parts as needed.
• Maintain records of work performed, repairs, and material usage.
• Work in various weather conditions and conserve resources.
• Use hand tools, power tools and precision tools effectively.
• Participate in CMC Safety Programs and uphold safety culture.
• Keep work area clean and follow safety regulations.
• Perform any other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

What You'll Do

• Maintain mobile equipment, cranes, bearings, power transmission, hydraulics/pneumatics, fluid pumping systems and welding principles/rigging
• Ensure daily preventative maintenance is performed on vehicles and mobile equipment, which may include fueling, cleaning, and checking/adding fluids as needed
• Services machinery and mechanical equipment by completing repairs on engines, hydraulics systems, mobile and stationary equipment
• Repair engine failures, mechanical and electrical system malfunctions, body repair and replacing parts and components
• Maintains specified records of work performed, details of repairs, and material usage
• Ability to work in various types of weather conditions which include extreme heat and cold
• Conserves maintenance resources by efficiently using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
• Possess proficient skills utilizing hand tools, power tools and precision tools for performing all facets of the repair and maintenance process
• Participates in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively upholds the CMC Safety Culture
• Maintains work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows safety regulations
• Any other tasks as assigned by supervisor

What You'll Need

• Minimum of 2 years of heavy equipment maintenance mechanic experience
• Experience with basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, engines, mobile equipment, and vehicles (number of years up to location preference)
• Experience with a wide variety of tools related to mechanics/hydraulics
• Proficient in reading and understand technical documents, diagrams, and service manuals
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Possess specific fundamental knowledge of bearings, power transmission equipment, electrical, hydraulics/pneumatics, lubrication, fluid pumping systems, and heat transfer
• Must be able to stand for significant lengths of time in an industrial environment with exposure to all elements of weather

Your Education

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required
