Job summary

Commercial Metals (CMC) is seeking a heavy equipment maintenance mechanic to support our fabricating and manufacturing facilities. You will perform preventative maintenance on vehicles and mobile equipment, service cranes, hydraulics, and welding systems, and repair engines and electrical faults.

You must read technical diagrams and use a wide range of tools; this is an outdoors/industrial environment with varying weather.

Qualifications

Experience with hydraulics/pneumatics, wiring and working on heavy equipment.
Proficient reading of technical diagrams and service manuals.
Experience with a wide variety of mechanics/hydraulics tools.
Knowledge of bearings, power transmission, hydraulics and lubrication.

Responsibilities

Perform daily preventative maintenance on vehicles and mobile equipment.
Maintain cranes, bearings, hydraulics/pneumatics, fluid pumping systems and welding.
Repair engines and electrical systems; service mechanical equipment.
Document work and material usage; adhere to safety standards; work in various weather conditions.

What You'll Do

Ensure daily preventative maintenance is performed on vehicles and mobile equipment, which may include fueling, cleaning, and checking/adding fluids as needed
Maintain mobile equipment, cranes, bearings, power transmission, hydraulics/pneumatics, fluid pumping systems and welding principles/rigging
Services machinery and mechanical equipment by completing repairs on engines, hydraulics systems, mobile and stationary equipment
Repair engine failures, mechanical and electrical system malfunctions, body repair and replacing parts and components
Maintains specified records of work performed, details of repairs, and material usage
Ability to work in various types of weather conditions which include extreme heat and cold
Any other tasks as assigned by supervisor

What You'll Need

Experience with hydraulics/pneumatics, wiring, and working on heavy equipment
Proficient in reading and understanding technical documents, diagrams and service manuals
Experience with a wide variety of tools related to mechanics/hydraulics
Experience with basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, engines, mobile equipment, and vehicles (number of years up to location preference)
Possess proficient skills utilizing hand tools, power tools and precision tools for performing all facets of the repair and maintenance process
Minimum of 2 years of heavy equipment maintenance mechanic experience
Possess specific fundamental knowledge of bearings, power transmission equipment, electrical, hydraulics/pneumatics, lubrication, fluid pumping systems, and heat transfer
Must be able to stand for significant lengths of time in an industrial environment with exposure to all elements of weather

Your Education

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required
