Job summary

CMC is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician to perform DOT maintenance on tractors and trailers, and to service a range of mobile equipment at our facilities in Georgia. You will diagnose issues, execute repairs, and uphold safety standards in a fast-paced industrial environment.

The role requires experience with hydraulics/pneumatics, engines, and a variety of mechanical tools, with welding/fabrication preferred.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, engines, mobile equipment, and vehicles.
• Experience with a wide variety of mechanics/hydraulics tools.
• Experience with hydraulics/pneumatics, wiring, and heavy equipment work.
• Welding, cutting and fabrication preferred.
• Ability to read technical documents, diagrams, and service manuals.

Responsibilities

• Perform DOT maintenance on road tractors and trailers.
• Maintain mobile equipment, cranes, bearings, power transmission, hydraulics/pneumatics, and welding.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems using test equipment and tools; identify root cause.
• Keep equipment operating by following instructions and troubleshooting breakdowns.
• Ensure daily preventive maintenance on vehicles and mobile equipment, including fueling and fluid checks.
• Service machinery and mechanical equipment by repairing engines and hydraulics.
• Repair engine failures, electrical system malfunctions, body parts, and components.
• Maintain records of work performed, repairs, and materials used.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and precision tools for repairs.
• Keep work area clean and safe; follow safety regulations.
• Participate in CMC Safety Programs and uphold safety culture.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

What You’ll Do

• Perform DOT maintenance on road tractors and trailers
• Maintain mobile equipment, cranes, bearings, power transmission, hydraulics/pneumatics, fluid pumping systems and welding principles/rigging
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment, hand tools and personal knowledge to determine root cause
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs when needed
• Ensure daily preventative maintenance is performed on vehicles and mobile equipment, which may include fueling, cleaning, and checking/adding fluids as needed
• Services machinery and mechanical equipment by completing repairs on engines, hydraulics systems, mobile and stationary equipment
• Repair engine failures, mechanical and electrical system malfunctions, body repair and replacing parts and components
• Maintains specified records of work performed, details of repairs, and material usage
• Possess proficient skills utilizing hand tools, power tools and precision tools for performing all facets of the repair and maintenance process
• Maintains work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows safety regulations
• Participates in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively upholds the CMC Safety Culture
• Any other tasks as assigned by supervisor

What You’ll Need

• Experience with basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, engines, mobile equipment, and vehicles (number of years up to location preference)
• Experience with a wide variety of tools related to mechanics/hydraulics
• Experience with hydraulics/pneumatics, wiring, and working on heavy equipment
• Welding, cutting and fabrication preferred
• Proficient in reading and understand technical documents, diagrams, and service manuals
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and steps, work outside under all weather conditions
• Minimum 1 year field experience in either heavy industrial operations and/or manufacturing environment preferred

Your Education

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required
