Asarco LLC is seeking a Mobile Equipment Mechanic to repair and maintain various types of mobile equipment at their facilities in Chicago. This role involves performing inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on both light and heavy machinery, requiring strong communication and problem-solving skills. Applicants should be knowledgeable about safety procedures and possess a valid driver’s license.
Position Title:Mobile Equipment Mechanic
POSITION OVERVIEW
Repair, maintain, install, and adjust mobile equipment such as autos, trucks, loaders, dozers, excavators, cranes, manlift, forklift, water trucks, sweepers, small locomotive equipment, other mobile equipment, and all types of internal combustion engines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
·Skilled mechanic who, under supervision, safely performs maintenance, inspections, diagnose, and repair brake systems, engines, air conditioning systems, electrical components, computer systems, steering systems, hydraulic systems, transmission, and tires
·Performs preventative maintenance on mobile equipment such as replacing fluids, filters, and lubricating parts.
·Responds to calls out in the field to assist with mobile equipment.
·Work with other crafts to facilitate safe and practical completion of installations and repairs of equipment.
·Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned according to business needs.
·Assists plant employees in the proper operation of equipment.
·Properly communicate the status of his assigned job with the relieving shift mechanics and shop supervisors.
·Ability to operate mine equipment such as Boom trucks, forklifts, man-baskets, etc.
·Must understand Asarco environmental policies; understand and practice all safety procedures for work environment and demonstrate effective communication skills.
·Follow Standard operating Procedures (SOP) and work area instructions and participate in safety and environmental activities.
·Must have basic tools to perform jobs.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
·Applicant must have good communications skills (oral and written).
·Must be able to manage time effectively and set priorities.
·Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks and troubleshoot problems.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
·Must have high school diploma or GED.
·Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, and/or a four-year state approved apprenticeship.
·Current A/C Section 609 Certification
