Job summary

Ziegler CAT in Shakopee, MN seeks a Field Service Technician- Engines to perform scheduled maintenance on engine-powered generators in the field. You will diagnose, repair and service diesel and gas engines and associated electrical systems at customer sites with company vehicle and tools.

The role requires strong mechanical, electrical and diagnostic skills, plus the ability to read schematics and work independently as well as part of a team.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical college degree in diesel technology or equivalent.
• 2 years of comparable shop mechanic experience acceptable with HS diploma.
• Knowledge of electricity and electronics, engine diagnostics and failure analysis.

Responsibilities

• Dispatched to perform scheduled maintenance on electric power generation equipment, including gas and diesel engines.
• Repair a variety of mechanical, hydraulic, gas, diesel and electrical systems with independent judgment.
• Maintain safe work practices according to company policies and standards.
• Respond to customer needs promptly to maximize value of work performed.
• Collaborate with other technicians on troubleshooting repairs.
• Document work orders completely and timely; identify parts needs for inventory.
• Be available for after-hours emergency calls as directed by supervisor.
