Job summary

Tampa Family Health Centers is seeking a Mobile Dental Assistant (EFDA) to support dental services through our mobile unit and community outreach programs in Tampa, FL. This role blends chairside care with front-desk support and requires driving TFHC vehicles as part of daily operations.

Requirements include a Florida EFDA certification, Dental Radiology, CPR, 21+ years old, and a valid FL driver’s license with a clean record.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Graduate of an accredited Dental Assistant program.
Current Florida Expanded Functions Dental Assistant certification required.
Current Dental Radiology certification required.
Current CPR certification required.
Must be at least 21 years old.
Valid Florida driver’s license with clean driving record.
Previous dental front-office or administrative experience preferred.
Proficiency with the EPIC electronic medical record system is a plus.

Responsibilities

Provide chairside assistance to dentists and dental hygienists during general dental procedures.
Prepare treatment areas, instruments, equipment, and materials before patient appointments.
Sterilize instruments and maintain infection-control standards within the mobile dental unit.
Assist with setting up and closing down the mobile unit at community locations and outreach events.
Safely drive and transport the mobile dental unit or other TFHC vehicles as assigned.
Complete required vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
Support patient registration, check-in, and appointment scheduling.
Verify and update patient demographics, insurance, and contact information.
Answer patient questions and provide clear instructions regarding appointments and follow-up care.
Submit preauthorizations and maintain accurate clinical and administrative documentation.
Assist with dental referrals, treatment coordination, and patient follow-up.
Coordinate dental laboratory case pickups, deliveries, and documentation.
Monitor supplies and assist with inventory management.
Enter and review information within the electronic medical record.
Travel throughout Hillsborough County based on the mobile unit schedule.
