Job summary

Saia LTL Freight is seeking a mobile Diesel Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on tractors, trailers, and fleet equipment, traveling between terminals in a mobile service van. You will diagnose issues, complete repairs, and document activities in the maintenance system while ensuring safety and DOT compliance.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of diesel mechanic experience (mobile maintenance preferred), strong knowledge of diesel engines and hydraulic systems, and

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Must provide and maintain personal maintenance tools.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and an acceptable MVR.
• Able to read, write, and understand English for documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on tractors and trailers.
• Travel to terminals and remote locations to diagnose issues and repair using a mobile service van.
• Respond to road calls and emergencies to minimize downtime.
• Document maintenance activities, parts usage, and repair outcomes in the maintenance system.
• Collaborate with leadership, fleet management, and drivers to schedule service.
• Ensure inventory control and security of tools and parts.
• Maintain a clean, safe mobile workspace and follow safety policies.
