Job summary

Excel Truck Group in Chesapeake, VA is seeking an experienced Mobile Diesel Mechanic for the 1st shift to perform scheduled maintenance at customer locations.

Ideal candidates have diesel truck technician experience; Freightliner, Mack, Sterling, Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel, and Cummins familiarity is a plus. Certifications are beneficial and can impact wages; existing toolset required.

Qualifications

• Experience as a diesel truck technician.
• Completion of a diesel technician school desired.
• State Inspection Certification desired.
• Experience with Freightliner, Mack, Sterling, Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel and/or Cummins ideal but not required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses mechanical problems and performs scheduled maintenance on trucks.
• Performs repairs including brakes, transmissions, rear-ends, clutches and electrical work at customer locations.
• Prepares work orders and coordinates with Parts to ensure efficient repairs.
• Promotes teamwork and maintains ongoing technician training and certifications.
• Possesses own set of tools and adheres to safety culture.

Excel Truck Group is seeking an experienced Mobile Diesel Mechanic to join our 1st shift team in Chesapeake, VA. This role is responsible for performing scheduled work at our customer locations.

If you have experience as a diesel truck technician, we want to hear from you. Certifications are a plus and can earn you an increase in wages. Experience with Freightliner, Mack, Sterling, Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel, and/or Cummins ideal but not required. Completion of a Diesel technician school and State Inspection Certification desired.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Diagnoses mechanical problems; able to handle regular maintenance, light and heavy repairs for Trucks. To include repairs brakes, transmissions, rear-ends, clutches, hydraulic systems, valves, pumps and electrical problems and engine repairs.

• Performs repairs and or scheduled maintenance as needed as a mobile Technician at our customers location.
• Ideally certified to perform State Inspections and CDL.
• Able to work independently. Can diagnose and repair on the roadside and or not at our dealership.
• Prepares work orders for repairs and works closely with our Parts department to insure an efficient repair.
• Promotes cooperation and teamwork.
• Willing to train and maintain certifications necessary as ongoing technician training and development.

• Must have your own tools.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
