Job summary

Excel Truck Group is seeking an experienced Mobile Diesel Mechanic to join our 1st shift team in Chesapeake, VA. The role involves performing scheduled work at customer locations, diagnosing mechanical problems and completing repairs with a focus on heavy trucks.

Certifications are a plus, with experience on Freightliner, Mack, Sterling, Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel, and Cummins ideal but not required. You must have your own tools and be ready for training and advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience as a diesel truck technician.
• Completion of a diesel technician program is a plus.
• State Inspection Certification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical problems and perform scheduled maintenance for trucks.
• Repair brakes, transmissions, axles, hydraulic systems, valves and engine components.
• Work as a mobile technician at customer locations and prepare work orders.
• Maintain certifications and participate in ongoing technician training.

If you have experience as a diesel truck technician, we want to hear from you. Certifications are a plus and can earn you an increase in wages. Experience with Freightliner, Mack, Sterling, Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel, and/or Cummins ideal but not required. Completion of a Diesel technician school and State Inspection Certification desired.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Diagnoses mechanical problems; able to handle regular maintenance, light and heavy repairs for Trucks. To include repairs brakes, transmissions, rear-ends, clutches, hydraulic systems, valves, pumps and electrical problems and engine repairs.

• Performs repairs and or scheduled maintenance as needed as a mobile Technician at our customers location.
• Ideally certified to perform State Inspections and CDL.
• Able to work independently. Can diagnose and repair on the roadside and or not at our dealership.
• Prepares work orders for repairs and works closely with our Parts department to insure an efficient repair.
• Promotes cooperation and teamwork.
• Willing to train and maintain certifications necessary as ongoing technician training and development.

• Must have your own tools.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
