Job summary

Excel Truck Group in Columbia, SC is seeking experienced Diesel Mechanics to join our in-shop service team, primarily at our dealership with some mobile calls. Bring your diesel truck expertise, certifications are a plus; Freightliner, Mack, Sterling, Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel, and Cummins experience is ideal but not required.

Qualifications

• Experience as a diesel truck mechanic is required.
• Certifications are a plus and can increase wages.
• Experience with Freightliner, Mack, Sterling, Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel, and/or Cummins is ideal but not required.
• Completion of a Diesel technician school and certification is desired.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses mechanical problems and performs regular maintenance, light and heavy repairs for trucks (brakes, transmissions, rear-ends, clutches, hydraulic systems, valves, pumps, electrical problems and engine repairs).
• Performs scheduled maintenance.
• Welds equipment as needed.
• Prepares shop work orders on equipment repair.
• Computer experience with CDK is helpful.
• Cleans shop and surrounding areas.
• Promotes teamwork and supports ongoing technician training and development.
• Must have your own tools.

Excel Truck Group is seeking experienced Diesel Mechanics to join our team in Columbia, SC. This opportunity is for primarily an in-shop technician who will also handle some mobile calls from the dealership.

If you have experience as a diesel truck mechanic, we want to hear from you. Certifications are a plus and can earn you an increase in wages. Experience with Freightliner, Mack, Sterling, Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel, and/or Cummins ideal but not required. Completion of a Diesel technician school and certification desired.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Diagnoses mechanical problems; able to handle regular maintenance, light and heavy repairs for Trucks. To include repairs brakes, transmissions, rear-ends, clutches, hydraulic systems, valves, pumps and electrical problems and engine repairs.

• Performs scheduled maintenance
• Ideally certified to perform State Inspections and CDL.
• Welds equipment as needed.
• Prepares shop work orders on equipment repair.
• Computer experience with a working knowledge of CDK ideal but not required.
• Cleans shop and surrounding work areas.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Promotes cooperation and teamwork.
• Willing to train and maintain certifications necessary as ongoing technician training and development.
