Job summary

Truck & Trailer, in partnership with True North Fleet Services, is seeking an experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to support customer fleets in the field. You’ll diagnose problems, perform repairs, and operate from a fully equipped mobile service unit, delivering safe, efficient service at various locations.

This hands-on role requires independence, strong communication with customers, and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of diesel/heavy-truck experience preferred.
  • Mobile/field service experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting ability across mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of diesel maintenance, repair procedures, and PM programs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on heavyduty trucks, trailers, and fleet equipment at customer locations.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues using tools and service information.
  • Repair diesel engines, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical systems, and related components.
  • Respond to mobile service and roadside repair needs.
  • Independently assess equipment issues and determine repair solutions.
  • Perform DOT inspections and ensure safety/compliance standards.

Job description

At Truck & Trailer, with our trusted partner True North Fleet Services, we are looking for an experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to support our customers and keep their fleets moving.

This is a hands-on field position for a technician who is confident working independently, diagnosing problems, making quality repairs, and communicating directly with customers. You'll operate from a fully equipped mobile service vehicle and be trusted to assess equipment, determine the right course of action, and get the job done safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on heavyduty trucks, trailers, and fleet equipment at customer locations
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues using experience, diagnostic tools, and service information
  • Repair diesel engines, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical systems, and related components
  • Respond to mobile service and roadside repair needs
  • Independently assess equipment issues and determine appropriate repair solutions
  • Perform DOT inspections and ensure applicable safety and compliance standards are met
  • Clearly communicate equipment conditions, repair recommendations, and job status with customers and internal teams
  • Accurately document inspections, diagnostics, repairs, parts, and maintenance activities
  • Manage daily workload, service calls, tools, and mobile inventory effectively
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized mobile service vehicle and work environment
  • Represent Truck & Trailer and True North Fleet Services professionally at every customer location
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of diesel, heavyduty truck, fleet, dealership, independent shop, or related mechanical experience preferred
  • Mobile, roadside, or fieldservice experience strongly preferred
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting ability across mechanical and electrical systems
  • Solid knowledge of diesel maintenance, repair procedures, and preventive maintenance programs
  • Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and complete repairs with limited supervision
  • Strong communication and customerservice skills
  • Selfmotivated, dependable, organized, and safetyminded
  • ASE TSeries certifications preferred (T2, T4, T5, T6, T8) or willingness to obtain
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements
  • CDL is a plus, but not required
