Job Overview & Essential Functions

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. We are seeking a Mobile Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic to perform heavy-duty truck repair and maintenance offsite at customer locations. Develop relationships with customers to achieve labor sales quotas and increase sales to assigned accounts within a designated territory. Analyze customer operations for opportunities to increase service sales.

• Performs routine mechanical repairs and maintenance on heavy-duty truck equipment and related components with general supervision.
• Coordinates customer repair orders with Service Manager and Shop Foremen for task assignment. Works with Service Advisor for proper scheduling of all mobile maintenance jobs.
• Advises customers on needed service work and suggests additional labor, parts, and body shop sales when appropriate (e.g., Preventive Maintenance Inspections, related services).
• Follows safe work practices, uses safety equipment as required, reports any damage immediately, and ensures proper safety and maintenance of assigned company vehicles.
• Maintains positive relations with customers.
• Creates and closes repair orders in the MHC business system, documenting work performed and time spent. Completes all necessary paperwork accurately.
• Manages business expenses within the approved budget and oversees tooling and parts inventory on the service truck.
• Oversees operations of assigned customers in the territory, regularly contacting key accounts. Promotes services, new products, and promotions, providing literature as needed.
• Responsible for achieving labor sales objectives and quotas for assigned accounts.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Safety-Sensitive Position

This role is designated as safety-sensitive. Operating or working near heavy equipment, machinery, or hazardous materials while under the influence of illegal substances poses serious health and safety risks.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of heavy-duty truck repair experience.
• A/C, Brake, and DOT Annual Inspector certifications required; engine and component certifications are a plus.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
• Committed to customer satisfaction and quality repairs.
• Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Necessary tools to perform job responsibilities.
• Class A or B CDL and/or DOT medical card may be required depending on the mobile service vehicle.
