Job description

Mobile Diesel Service Technician

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America's largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Mobile Diesel Service Journeyman / Mechanic. The role is to perform complex, heavy‑duty mechanical truck repair and maintenance off‑site at customer locations. The technician develops relationships with customers to achieve labor sales quota and increase sales to assigned accounts in a designated territory, and analyzes customer operations for opportunities to increase service sales.

Responsibilities
  • Performs skilled and complicated mechanical work on heavy‑duty truck equipment and related components with minimum supervision.
  • Coordinates customer repair orders with the Service Manager and Shop Foremen for task assignment, and with the Service Advisor for proper scheduling of all mobile maintenance business.
  • Advises customers of needed service work and suggests additional labor, parts, and body‑shop sales whenever possible (e.g., preventive maintenance inspections, related service work).
  • Follows safe work practices and procedures, uses required safety equipment, and reports any damage to company or customer equipment immediately to a supervisor. Maintains favorable relations with customers.
  • Creates and closes repair orders in the MHC business system to document the repair work performed and the time spent, completing all required paperwork accurately.
  • Controls business expenses within the approved budget and is responsible for tooling and parts inventory on the service truck.
  • Oversees operations for assigned customers in the territory, calling upon key accounts regularly, introducing preventive maintenance, new products, and promotions, and providing literature as necessary.
  • Responsible for achieving labor sales objectives and quota for assigned accounts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

This position is designated as safety‑sensitive. Any person performing the position while under the influence of marijuana or any other illegal drug may constitute a threat to health or safety or result in injury, illness, or death, especially when operating or repairing heavy equipment, machinery, or vehicles, or handling hazardous materials.
