Mobile Diesel Service Technician
Job Overview
Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Mobile Diesel Service Journeyman / Mechanic. The role of the Mobile Diesel Service Journeyman / Mechanic is to perform complex, heavy‑duty mechanical truck repair and maintenance offsite at customer locations, develop relationships with customers to achieve labor sales quota and increase sales to assigned accounts in a designated territory, and analyze customer operations for opportunities to increase service sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform skilled and complicated mechanical work on heavy‑duty truck equipment and related components with minimum supervision.
- Coordinate customer repair orders with Service Manager and Shop Foremen for task assignment and with Service Advisor for proper work scheduling of all mobile maintenance business.
- Advise customers of needed service work and suggest additional labor, parts, and body shop sales whenever possible (e.g., preventive maintenance inspections and related service work).
- Follow safe work practices and procedures, use safety equipment when required, respond to suggestions for working safely, and seek assistance when necessary. Ensure proper safety, care, and maintenance of company vehicles assigned to the technician and report any damage to company or customer equipment or property immediately to supervisor. Maintain favorable relations with customers.
- Create and close repair orders in the MHC business system to document the repair work performed and the time spent completing the repair. Complete paperwork as required to accurately document the work performed.
- Control business expenses within the approved expense budget and be responsible for tooling and parts inventory on the service truck.
- Oversee operations of assigned customers in the territory. Call upon key accounts (current and prospective) regularly, introduce items such as preventive maintenance, new products, and promotions, reemphasize existing products and services, and provide literature as necessary.
- Be responsible for achieving labor sales objectives and quota for assigned accounts.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of heavy‑duty truck repair experience.
- A/C, Brake, DOT Annual Inspector, Engine and Component Certifications required.
- Must be self‑motivated and capable of working with little supervision.
- Must have a commitment to customer satisfaction and perform quality repairs.
- Must have excellent communication skills and a positive can‑do attitude.
- Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities.
- Class A or B CDL and DOT medical card may be required depending on the size of the mobile service vehicle.
