Job Summary

Company: Cox Automotive – Cox Fleet.

Position: Mobile Diesel Technician II. Location: Must live in the specified city, state, or region; Travel: 100% of the time.

Compensation: Hourly base pay range $32.07 – $48.13; commission and incentive programs may be available.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance ("PM") and DOT inspections on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
• Conduct follow‑up repairs and advance mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic diagnostics.
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, air conditioning, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
• Use handheld computers, pressure gauges and other test instruments; conduct road tests to confirm functionality.
• Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle; perform safety checks before and after trips.
• Manage parts inventory, reconcile periodically, and obtain parts from approved vendors as needed.
• Document all work on Repair Orders using the TRAIT application, including uploading pictures of work performed.
• Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation promptly.
• Work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet standard repair times.
• Communicate with clients and management, obtain repair estimates, and discuss findings.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and 3 years experience in a related field (or equivalent education and 5 years).
• At least 3 years experience with refrigerated equipment.
• Must possess the hand tools required for duties.
• OEM training and certifications preferred.
• Complete all company‑required training.
• Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.
• Current, valid DOT medical card with more than 4 months remaining, or DOT physical if less than 4 months.
• Minimum age 21, valid driver’s license, and ability to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
• Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, walk for long periods, and perform moderately heavy labor.
