Position Summary

Mobile Diesel Technician Level II

The Mobile Diesel Technician II will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventive maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, and diagnostics on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. The role includes advanced diagnostics under the supervision of a Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician or higher and continuous learning of advanced mechanical skills.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles.
  • Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment (electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, etc.).
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair equipment using handheld computers, pressure gauges, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Road‑test vehicles to ensure proper operation.
  • Manage parts inventory and perform periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and conduct safety checks on company‑issued service vehicles.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to assess and address their needs.
  • Prioritize work and manage daily schedule independently.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, welding equipment, lift and jacks.
  • Document work on Repair Orders using an iOS device and the TRAIT application.
  • Complete DOT forms and other required documentation promptly.
  • Work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED and at least 3 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination such as a degree or certification with 5 years of experience).
  • Must bring a set of hand tools needed for the job.
  • Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
  • Successful completion of DOT‑regulated background screening and DOT physical.
  • Valid DOT medical card with at least 4 months remaining, or a DOT physical if less than 4 months.
  • Minimum age 21; valid driver’s license with ability to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
