Cox Fleet is seeking a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II to perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs in a mobile/field setting. You will diagnose, adjust, and repair electrical, brakes, cooling systems, and powertrain components, while documenting work and managing parts inventory.

The role requires a High School Diploma/GED, a hand tool set, and ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months. DOT eligibility and a valid driver's license are required.

Responsibilities

Cox Fleet is currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II.

Responsibilities

• Perform licensed DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned in a mobile/field environment.
• Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various types of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, engine electronics, and driveline components.
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment including electrical, brakes, cooling systems, air conditioning, engine electronics, and powertrain components.
• Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments.
• Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
• Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate alternatives with sound judgments.
• Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
• Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, and conduct safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections.
• Work with clients to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and meet expectations.
• Manage concurrent tasks with effective prioritization and time management.
• Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
• Document work according to company standards and upload photos of work performed, parts used, and findings on RO using a company-issued iOS device and TRAIT application.
• Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
• Work with a high degree of independence and manage daily schedule.
• Maintain a high level of productivity and work within or close to standard repair times.
• Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for repairs.
• Communicate with management and support teams to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings.
• Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
• Maintain the company-issued service truck, conduct safety checks, and daily pre-/post-trip inspections.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
• Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
• Must be able to complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
• Current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical. If four months or less remain, a DOT physical will be required.
• Candidates must be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority regulations.
• Valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File.
