This is a 2nd shift position (2 PM - 12 AM - Weekend Coverage - Friday through Monday).

Mobile Diesel Technician Level II

The Mobile Diesel Technician II will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, light mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The technician can perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs under the supervision of a Senior Mobile Diesel Technician or higher. The position continues to develop additional advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques. A successful technician complies with all company policies and achieves high‑level performance metrics.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, gas and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, A/C systems, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and to ensure proper operation.
  • Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.
  • Manage parts inventory and equipment provided on company‑issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre/post‑trip inspections.
  • Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess their needs, providing information or assistance, resolving issues, or satisfying expectations.
  • Manage concurrent assigned tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
  • Document work according to company standards and upload photos on Repair Orders (RO) using an iOS device and the TRAIT application.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner.
  • Work independently and manage own daily schedule.
  • Maintain high productivity and work within standard repair times.
  • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary.
  • Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings.
  • Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of experience in a related field; alternative combinations of degree/certification and experience may be considered.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
  • Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
  • Must pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical (or submit a DOT medical card with >4 months remaining).
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
  • Class C driver’s license is required.
