Responsibilities

The Mobile Service Technician is responsible for maintaining the fleet for clients and handling service calls at client locations. Provide excellent customer service, including tasks such as cleaning, maintenance, visual inspections, and removal of parts and attachments. Perform installations using proper manuals, report writing, disassembly, assembly, parts reuse evaluation, and reconditioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
  • Perform basic truck maintenance, including fueling, oil checks, cleaning, and documenting inspections.
  • Manage inventory control on the service truck and keep it properly stocked.
  • Report to the Service Manager and perform assigned duties daily.
  • Be available for after-hours service calls and maintain an open work schedule.
  • Maintain and inventory tools required for maintaining diesel engines and related equipment.
  • Read job orders and assess vehicle condition to determine malfunction and plan work procedures.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and technical information to identify issues and perform repairs.
  • Perform diagnosis, removal, and replacement of parts such as injectors, pistons, liners, camshafts, cylinder heads, bearings, oil pans, clutches, fan hubs, differentials, fifth wheels, brakes, batteries, transmissions, and other components.
  • Complete all diagnostic and documentation tasks on the company computer system.
  • Inspect safety devices and guards, making adjustments as needed.
  • Lubricate moving parts and verify repairs through test drives.
  • Perform preventative maintenance as requested.
  • Accurately document and submit work performed via paperwork or mobile service programs.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and foster positive relations.
  • Advise customers or service writers of future repairs or services needed within 3 months.
  • Participate in training and apply learned skills in daily work.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
  • Valid CDL and Medical card as required by FMVSS.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills.
