Job summary

Alaska Behavioral Health in Anchorage, AK is seeking a Peer Support Specialist for the Mobile Crisis Team. This full-time, non-exempt role focuses on crisis intervention, recovery-support, and collaboration with clinicians to engage individuals in crisis and connect them with post-crisis services.

You will maintain accurate documentation in the EHR, participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation, and share lived experiences to inspire hope.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of Peer Support Specialist training.
• Certification as a Peer Support Specialist I within 6 months of hire.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Personal experience in recovery from mental illness, substance abuse, or co-occurring disorders, and willingness to share experiences to support others.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a role model, sharing lived experiences and offering hope to individuals in crisis.
• Identify strengths and natural supports to promote recovery-focused care.
• Document all activities accurately in the Electronic Health Record.
• Conduct follow-ups with individuals as recommended by the MCT clinician.
• Participate in the 24 hour on-call rotation, with ability for regular assigned days.
