Job summary

AltaPointe Health's Behavioral Health Crisis Center in Mobile hires a Peer Specialist to support individuals through crisis de-escalation and recovery planning. You will collaborate with treatment teams, promote self-direction, and help clients access benefits and community resources.

Applicants must have a High School diploma or equivalent and a state Peer Specialist Certification; a valid Alabama driver license is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Peer Specialist Certification through State of Alabama Department of Mental Health.
• Must be 23 years of age, possess a valid Alabama driver license and driving record.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Promote recovery, self-advocacy, and self-direction for individuals.
• Attend treatment team meetings to support self-directed advocacy.
• Assist individuals in obtaining information about benefits (SSI, SSDI, Medicaid).
• Engage individuals in outpatient programs to encourage recovery.
• Model self-advocacy and teach wellness management strategies.
• Lead recovery support groups when appropriate.
