Job summary

HL Chapman Pipeline Construction is seeking a Mobile Construction Mechanic (CDL required) to diagnose and repair heavy equipment in the San Antonio area.

This field-based role travels to job sites, performs field repairs on engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems, and ensures fleet reliability. Must have Class B CDL and be comfortable outdoors.

Starting pay is $29.00 per hour with experience-based adjustments; benefits include health, dental, vision, 401K, and paid vacation.

Qualifications

Mobile Construction Mechanic (CDL Required)

H.L. Chapman Pipeline Construction is a leader in trenching for utilities, oil & gas pipeline construction, and mass rock excavation. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mobile Construction Mechanic to join our team. This position is based in San Antonio, TX, and requires travel to project sites throughout the San Antonio area to support our field operations and maintain our fleet of heavy construction equipment.

Responsibilities

The Mobile Construction Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing equipment issues, performing repairs in the field, and ensuring company equipment remains safe, reliable, and operational. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced construction environment.

Typical Job Tasks

• Travel to jobsite, diagnose equipment failure.
• Make repairs as necessary to return equipment to operational state.
• Wide variety of tasks, electrical, A/C, hydraulics, undercarriage, major component remove and replace (engines, transmissions, differentials).
• Diagnose minor engine and transmission problems (overheating, fuel issue, and leaks).

License Requirements

• Commercial driver's License (Class B minimum)
