Overview

The Director of Disability Services at Normandale Community College administers, develops, implements, and manages academic support programs for students with disabilities, including oversight of the Office for Students with Disabilities, Title IX Pregnant and Parenting Civil Rights law, and Make-Up Testing services. The role involves leadership, supervision, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and Title IX.

Position Details
  • Classification: MnSCU Academic Supervisor 3
  • Type: Full-Time, Unclassified, Unlimited
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 4:30 PM (flexible with remote options)
  • Salary: Hourly $37.60 - $54.16; Annually $78,509 - $113,086 (dependent on education and experience)
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Four (4) years’ experience in providing services to students with disabilities at the postsecondary level; a Bachelor’s degree can substitute for one year of experience.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local disability laws.
  • Experience reviewing disability documentation.
  • Advocacy skills for students with disabilities.
  • Experience managing challenging situations involving students, parents, staff, and faculty.
  • Skills in supervision, training, budgeting, and program development.
  • Knowledge of web accessibility and content.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Over five years’ experience in postsecondary disability services.
  • Experience supervising college support services.
  • Experience with student transition from high school to college.
  • Program assessment and budget management experience.
  • Strategic planning experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and collaborating with faculty and staff.
