Job summary

MACOM, a global leader in RF, microwave, photonics, and high-speed analog technologies, seeks an Integration Engineering Intern to join our team and contribute to real-world projects across the full product flow.

During the 12-week program, you will analyze manufacturing data, work with AOI and defect classification tools, and collaborate with Process, Manufacturing, Yield, Quality, and Product Engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Basic understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes and device fundamentals.
  • Experience with laboratory, test, or process equipment through coursework, research, or internships.
  • Familiarity with data analysis, statistical methods, and problem-solving techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze manufacturing, yield, and process data to identify opportunities for yield improvement and defect reduction.
  • Utilize Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) systems and defect classification tools to identify and characterize process-induced defects.
  • Investigate defect trends and perform root cause analysis using statistical and engineering methodologies.
  • Develop and execute experiments to evaluate process improvements and verify corrective actions.
  • Create reports, dashboards, and technical presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Yield Enhancement, Quality, and Product Engineering teams.
  • Drive an individual improvement project and present results to engineering leadership.

Integration Engineering Intern

We are seeking a motivated and curious Engineering Intern to join our Integration Engineering team. This internship offers hands‑on experience in solving real‑world engineering challenges, contributing to active projects, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams. Intern will gain exposure to the full product flow and be able to contribute/lead improvement projects.

During the 12-week internship, each intern will:
  • Be assigned a well‑defined engineering project with clear objectives, deliverables, and measurable success criteria.
  • Gain hands‑on experience in semiconductor manufacturing and process engineering.
  • Work closely with experienced engineers and technical mentors.
  • Participate in technical training sessions and professional development workshops.
  • Attend intern networking and social events.
  • Present project results, lessons learned, and recommendations during the end‑of‑program Poster Session.
  • Receive formal performance feedback and career development guidance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Familiarity with data analysis, statistical methods, and problem‑solving techniques.
  • Ability to manage project tasks and meet established milestones.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Coursework or project experience in semiconductor fabrication, microelectronics, materials characterization, or device physics.
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools such as JMP, Minitab, Python, MATLAB, R, or Excel.
  • Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), or Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Familiarity with yield analysis, failure analysis, or defect inspection techniques.
  • Exposure to automated inspection systems, image analysis, or manufacturing process monitoring.
