MACOM is seeking a Design Engineer Intern to join the HPA team in Newport Beach. You will work with experienced engineers, gaining hands-on experience and taking ownership of a critical project during a 12-week internship.

Mentoring, training, webinars, networking events, and a poster session are part of the program. Ideal candidates are pursuing MSEE/PhD and bring TCL, Python, Verilog RTL, and timing-analysis familiarity.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a MSEE or PhD in Digital System/ASIC design.
  • Interest in learning digital ASIC place-and-route skills.
  • Familiarity with TCL, Python and shell scripting for automation.
  • Familiarity with static timing concepts.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.

Role Overview

As a member of the HPA team, the Digital Circuit Design Intern will work alongside experienced engineers providing mentoring, guidance, and introductions to colleagues.

This Internship with MACOM will help the Intern to gain valuable work experience in a key discipline, build professional relationships, and take ownership of a business‑critical project.

During the 12 weeks each Intern will

  • Attend networking/social events
  • Attend and present at Poster Session about each Interns project successes and pitfalls

Requirements
  • Candidate must be presently pursuing MSEE or PhD in area relating to Digital System/ASIC design.
Prerequisite Skills and Experience
  • Interest in learning and developing digital ASIC place and route skills.
  • Familiarity in TCL, Python and shell scripting languages for automation
  • Familiarity with static timing concepts
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Honesty and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new concepts
Additional Desirable Skills
  • Having experience with Verilog RTL coding design.

The Hourly Range for this position is $20 – $47 per hour. Actual salary offered to candidate will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, work location, relevant candidates’ experience, education, and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.
