Job summary

Rush University Medical Center is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 to perform all assigned laboratory testing and provide timely, accurate results for the RML Chemistry area. This role requires teamwork to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality care, with adherence to Rush policies and ICARE values.

The position demands a Bachelor's or higher in the relevant fields, relevant ASCP/AMT credentials, and a minimum of 24 months high-complexity lab experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in laboratory science, biology, chemistry or equivalent meeting high complexity testing qualifications.
• Certification in MLS/MT/BB/CS/CG/CT/H/M/MB or equivalent per ASCP/AMT/ACHI/ACC.
• Minimum 24 contiguous months of high-complexity clinical laboratory experience.
• In lieu of a Bachelors, an Associate’s degree with 7+ years high-complexity experience and certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform all assigned laboratory testing for the testing area and report results.
• Collaborate with team to meet deadlines and ensure quality patient care.
• Identify and resolve quality control issues and escalate when appropriate.
• Troubleshoot equipment and processes with minimal supervision.
• Prepare and present at least 15 minutes of continuing education within the department.
• Participate in process improvement projects and department training.
• Adhere to Rush policies, procedures, and ICARE values in daily work.
• Review lab results and call out critical results within defined time frames.
