Job summary

Rush University Medical Center is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist 1 for the RML General Microbiology department. The role involves performing all assigned laboratory tests, reporting results, and working to meet tight deadlines while ensuring quality care and adherence to Rush policies and values.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in laboratory science or related field, MLS/MT credentials, and a willingness to work Night shift with a total FTE of 0.9–1.0.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in laboratory science or related field and licensure/certification as required (MLS/MT).
• Experience with high complexity testing; ASCP/AMT/others accepted as credentials.
• Ability to adhere to Rush policies, procedures, and code of conduct.

Responsibilities

• Perform all assigned laboratory testing and reporting for the testing area.
• Meet turnaround time expectations by prioritizing and organizing the workload.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work area; disinfect at shift start and end.
