Job summary

Hebrew Public in Brooklyn is seeking a driven MLL/Intervention Teacher to deliver engaging, standards-based instruction, monitor student progress, and collaborate with colleagues to refine teaching practices. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Masters preferred.
  • K-12 lead teaching experience is a plus.
  • Experience in urban, public charter, or Title I schools is a plus.
  • Hold NY teacher certification or actively pursuing certification.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Legally authorized to work in the USA.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver standards-based instruction and monitor progress.
  • Utilize Responsive Classroom techniques.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to refine teaching practices.
  • Administer NYSITEL to all new entrants within 10 days.
  • Administer NYSESLAT to multilingual and English learners annually.
  • Provide small group pull-out services for intervention (tier 3).
  • Implement Fountas & Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention.
  • Maximize learning time with strong classroom management.
  • Create engaging, developmentally appropriate learning environments.
  • Demonstrate mastery in subject area and connect with diverse students.
  • Collaborate with instructional leaders for curricular coherence.
  • Show energy and enthusiasm for students and staff.

What’s the role

We are looking for a driven MLL/Intervention Teacher to deliver engaging, standards-based instruction, utilize Responsive Classroom techniques, and monitor student progress while collaborating with colleagues to refine teaching practices. What you’ll do
  • A strong commitment to all students with the belief that all students can learn and must be held to high academic standards;
  • Commitment to professional growth through self-reflection, receptiveness to feedback and a continuous desire to improve;
  • Produce quality Common Core aligned lesson plans that strive for higher-level objectives while accommodating all learning styles;
  • Analyze and regularly review student assessment data from a variety of sources – both formally and informally - to drive curricular and pedagogical choices and adjustments;
  • Administer the NYSITEL to all new entrants within 10 days of entry to school;
  • Administer the NYSESLAT to all Multilingual Learner (MLL) and English Language Learner (ESL) students each year;
  • Provide small group pull-out services to tier 3 students for intervention
  • Implement Fountas & Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention
  • Maximize learning time through effective classroom management;
  • Provide an inviting, exciting, learning environment using varied instructional techniques and developmentally appropriate strategies;
  • Mastery/deep knowledge in instructional subject area, with an undergraduate major or minor or graduate degree in the subject;
  • Strong desire to collaborate with other faculty and instructional leaders to discuss student work and ensure curricular coherence;
  • Passion for his/her subject and the ability to connect with and motivate, individually and collectively, a group of students from different backgrounds;
  • Boundless energy and enthusiasm for working with students and other adults in the building.
Who you are
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required; Masters degree is a plus
  • K-12 lead teaching experience in a classroom setting is a plus
  • Experience in urban, public charter, or Title I schools is a plus
