Job summary

Rippling is seeking an Engineering Intern to join the Machine Learning Team for Summer 2027 (May/June – Aug/Sept). You will build robust ML models, implement updates, and tackle complex problems with real business impact.

During your 13 weeks, you’ll work alongside mentors, gain full-time engineer responsibilities, and contribute to production systems while exploring ML and software engineering in a collaborative, diverse environment based in San Francisco or New York.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an M.Sc. or Ph.D. program in computer science or related field during the internship.
• Strong programming skills with a backend focus; experience with Python, PySpark, and PyTorch.
• Excellent communication skills and a desire to learn in ML and software engineering.
• Experience with large language models (LLMs) and pre-training/fine-tuning is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Translate product needs into mathematical formulations (models); train those models and ship them to production.
• Design scalable machine learning pipelines for data preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, and evaluation with data engineers.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest research in ML and apply to Rippling products.
