Job summary

Torc Robotics, Inc. seeks a Machine Learning Engineer II – 3D Perception to advance BEV perception capabilities across our autonomy stack. You will develop, evaluate, and improve production ML solutions that enhance environmental understanding, model robustness, and system performance.

Collaborate with engineers across software, infrastructure, and autonomy teams to deliver scalable perception models and improve training pipelines and developer workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in a relevant field with 3+ years of industry experience or a Master's with 1+ year of experience.
• Experience developing ML models for computer vision, perception, robotics, or autonomous systems.
• Strong Python and PyTorch programming skills for production-ready ML code.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and improve ML models for perception systems.
• Own model development from data prep to evaluation and integration.
• Write production-quality Python/PyTorch code for training, evaluation, and inference.
• Analyze model performance, identify failure modes, and troubleshoot robustness issues.
• Develop perception models leveraging multi-modal sensor data (camera/3D).
• Collaborate with software and autonomy teams to integrate models into larger systems.
• Contribute to training pipelines, data workflows, and tooling to accelerate iterations.
• Participate in model architecture discussions and provide technical recommendations.
• Lead small initiatives or components under guidance from seniors.
• Mentor junior engineers on implementation and ML best practices.
• Document results and design decisions for knowledge sharing.
