The Rohde & Schwarz technology group is a leader in test & measurement, technology systems, networks, and cybersecurity, aiming to create a safer, connected world. We seek a highly motivated Mixed Signal ICs System Architect for our North American R&D Center in Hillsboro, Oregon. Our team designs next-generation data converters for top-tier test equipment, with a history of successful device development integrated into industry-leading products.

Our R&D office offers a modern, quiet, and light-filled environment in Hillsboro, west of Portland. We value close personal interactions for team success but support occasional remote work, with possibilities for fully remote work for exceptional candidates, including periodic visits to the office. This is a full-time position.

Your tasks
  • Architect and develop various modules within our devices, collaborating with industry leaders in data converter design. Devices integrate high-frequency analog blocks (>30 GHz) with complex digital blocks to create custom System on Chip (SoC) solutions. Responsibilities span from conceptualization through design, layout, and characterization.
  • Develop cutting-edge SoCs for communication systems, optimizing performance, power, and cost based on customer specifications.
  • Drive block specifications for the design team.
  • Develop, simulate, and maintain data converter models in MATLAB and Verilog across different usage modes.
  • Coordinate with analog and digital implementation teams to ensure proper system design development.
  • Simulate entire signal paths in a mixed-signal environment.
  • Create and own chip-level simulations to verify data converter operation modes, working with ASIC teams in Germany and abroad.
Your Qualifications
  • MS degree with 5+ years or PhD with 3+ years of experience.
  • Significant experience modeling data converters or radio systems in MATLAB.
  • Strong knowledge of communication systems/standards and their applications in wireless and wireline contexts.
  • Deep understanding of high-speed IC design, simulation, and measurement in CMOS and CML circuits, including areas like ADCs, serializers, high-performance PLLs, low-noise clock designs, operational amplifiers, and DSP techniques.
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently and coordinate with IC designers.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to Europe and the U.S.
  • Legal work authorization in the U.S.
  • Effective team collaboration skills; additional experience in mixed-signal circuit design, BiCMOS ICs, Cadence tools, and SERDES design is a plus.

We look forward to your application! This full-time role offers a salary range of $101k-$190K plus benefits, determined by factors like location, education, experience, and skills. Rohde & Schwarz is committed to diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
