Job summary

Dunwoody Baptist Church in Dunwoody, GA is seeking a Missions Pastor to lead the missions program with energy and priority. The role involves coordinating the Missions Council, directing resources, and teaching as part of the pastoral team, including baptisms, weddings, and pastoral care.

The ideal candidate will have a clear calling to missions, strong theological grounding, and 5–10 years of missions experience, with HEART traits of Humble, Encouraging, Accountable, Resilient, Teachable.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of missions experience and strong relationships with missions partners.

Responsibilities

• Execute the DBC missions activities and manage a comprehensive missional program for community, national, and global partnerships.
• Evaluate mission organizations, missionaries, national leaders, and sponsored congregations.
• Coordinate a volunteer network to assist in programs and missionaries sponsored.
• Lead Mission Council meetings, delegate tasks, and manage facilities and volunteers for prioritized programs.
• Attend meetings and serve as a voting member of the DBC Foundation.
• Travel domestically and internationally up to 20% regularly.
• Recruit, coordinate, and prepare people for mission programs and trips.
• Lead multiple mission trips for visioning, planning, and execution each year.
• Must be ordained Baptist minister with at least a master’s degree (MDiv) from an accredited seminary.

Job Summary

The Missions Pastor at Dunwoody Baptist Church (DBC) is the keeper of all things missions. This is a critical role on the staff as substantial energy, priority and resources are allocated to the missions area. In coordination with the Missions Council and Senior Pastor, the Missions Pastor sets missions priorities and goals, directs the missions program and coordinates the distribution of missions resources. Additionally, the Missions Pastor is a regular member of the pastoral team and will have broad responsibilities to teach, perform baptisms, weddings, funerals, provide pastoral care, counseling, attend special events, and complete other pastoral responsibilities as a member of our broad, cross-functional team. Other duties may be assigned by the Senior Pastor as necessary to sustain the work and ministry of DBC.

The Missions Pastor should be a visionary and strategic leader who can help the church develop and pursue a compelling, biblically grounded missions vision.

Missions Experience

The candidate will demonstrate experience in missions programs both domestically and internationally while maintaining strong relationships with DBC’s missions partners. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of missions experience.

Responsibilities & Job Duties

• Accountable for the successful execution of all the DBC missions activities; which includes developing, coordinating and administering a comprehensive missional program for DBC, focusing on community, national and global partnerships. Proposes an appropriate financial and resources budget to support the planned programs.
• Evaluates and monitors mission organizations and individual missionaries, national leaders, and mission pastors/congregations sponsored by the Church.
• Coordinates a volunteer support network for these groups, to assist in the programs and missionaries sponsored.
• Leads and participates in the Mission Council, encouraging teamwork, delegating tasks, and managing facility and volunteer resources for the various prioritized missions’ programs.
• Attends meetings and serves as a voting member of the DBC Foundation.
• Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally on a regular basis, up to 20%;
• Recruiting, coordinating, and preparing people and groups for execution of mission programs and projects.
• Leading multiple mission trips for visioning, planning, and execution of programs and projects each year.
• Must be an ordained Baptist minister with at least a master’s degree (MDiv) from an accredited seminary.
