Job summary

Hermeus is seeking a Mission Systems Engineering Intern to work across avionics, software, and system integration to build, test, and troubleshoot mission capabilities on state-of-the-art aircraft. This role combines hands-on hardware experience with software development in a fast-paced defense aviation environment.

The internship program runs for Spring (around 16 weeks) and Summer (around 12 weeks), with on-site work and opportunities to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Hands-on software and hardware integration experience from internships, coursework, research, projects, or competition teams.
• Proficient in C++ and Python.
• Experience with embedded systems, electronics, avionics, sensors, networking or other hardware-connected systems.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving across hardware and software interfaces.
• Ability to work effectively on multidisciplinary technical teams; GPA 3.0 or above.

Responsibilities

• Support integration and testing of mission hardware, software, sensors, radios, processors, and avionics systems.
• Develop and test software for command and control, telemetry, and subsystem interfaces.
• Perform hardware/software bring-up, debugging, and troubleshooting in lab, HIL, ground-test, and aircraft environments.
• Support system interfaces, networking, communication protocols, and integration requirements.
• Collaborate with software, avionics, autonomy, communications, and flight-test teams.
• Document test results, technical findings, and system configurations.
