Job summary

InnoForge is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own mission systems and ground software, bridging flight systems, ground infrastructure, data and mission operations. You’ll turn inputs from multiple teams into reliable software, owning from architecture to deployment and operation.

The role sits in a hands-on team, requiring collaboration across software, systems and hardware. Regular office access in the Los Angeles area is expected, with flexible hybrid work and some onsite work required.

Qualifications

Senior Software Engineer – Mission Systems & Ground Software

Working model: Flexible hybrid, with regular onsite access required

InnoForge is supporting a fast-growing space technology company looking for a Senior Software Engineer to take ownership of its mission systems and ground software.

This isn’t a narrowly defined Flight Software or Backend position. The role sits between flight systems, ground infrastructure, data and mission operations.

You’ll be responsible for turning inputs from different engineering teams into reliable operational software, taking ownership from architecture and interface design through to implementation, testing, deployment and operation.

What we’re looking for:

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Experience with at least one additional systems or backend programming language
• Previous ownership of software from initial design through to deployment and operation
• Experience designing APIs, schemas, protocols, telemetry systems or other technical interfaces
• An understanding of distributed systems and asynchronous services
• The ability to work effectively across software, systems and physical hardware

Relevant backgrounds could include:

• Spacecraft mission, ground, payload or EGSE software
• Aerospace or other mission-critical software
• Robotics or autonomous vehicle operations
• Industrial automation and control systems

This is a hands-on role within a growing technical team. You’ll work within an established Flight Software architecture, but have significant ownership over the design and delivery of the mission and ground software capability.

The team is based in the Los Angeles area, and regular access to the office and hardware will be important. There is flexibility around remote working, but this is not intended to be a fully remote position.

US Person status is required due to ITAR/EAR requirements.
