Job summary

mbsolutionsinc is seeking a Systems Engineer to join the JETSII Contract with Nexus, supporting NASA's Orion program under Artemis. You will define mission activities on the moon, coordinate cross-system integration, and participate in reviews to ensure spacecraft performance and mission readiness.

The role involves collaboration with NASA centers and prime contractors, requiring a bachelor’s in engineering and 5–10 years of related space hardware experience.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering and normally possess 5 - 10 years of related experience.
  • Experience in early program concept development and formulation.
  • Experience with requirements development, design trades, development of Concept of Operations, risk analysis, and system analysis of space hardware.
  • Experience creating concepts for operations of single vehicle systems as well as operations across multiple space vehicles.
  • Experience with technology roadmap development and creating technology infusion plans.
  • Experience collecting/understanding stakeholder needs.
  • Experience with interface definition for vehicle subsystems.
  • Experience with interface definitions between multiple vehicles or elements of a mission.
  • Experience creating configuration growth or evolution plans and defining incremental capabilities for a mission sequence.
  • Ability to define mission sequences both within a single mission and across multiple missions.
  • Experience with Test and Verification of spaceflight hardware.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles and associated documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Orion mission planning and analysis, including vehicle performance, limitations, and mission readiness.
  • Perform cross-system technical integration, including issue resolution plans and assessing impacts to cost/schedule.
  • Coordinate with Orion Program Office, prime contractor, and NASA centers for engineering integration.
  • Participate in Orion Program reviews and technical boards, providing guidance on spacecraft capability and mission design.
  • Support mission planning trade studies and risk evaluations across disciplines.
  • Provide status updates to program management and leads, elevating issues and recommending mitigations.
  • Understand mission concepts of operations, objectives, and spacecraft systems for future exploration campaigns.
  • Review documentation for major milestone reviews (CBR, PDR, CDR).
  • Work in a team environment and maintain professional relationships with NASA customers and partners.
